Head of Growth
Are you passionate about climate change? Are you eager to secure the future of sustainable food production? We’re looking for a Head of Growth to take ownership of our commercial efforts and making ruumi the defacto standard for any livestock farmer and food corporation. Sounds like something for you? Keep on reading!
So, what is ruumi?
At ruumi we build grassland and grazing management tools to help livestock farmers manage their land sustainably. And, our five year programme finances them to transition to more sustainable practices through a very high quality carbon credit scheme.
We are a remote-first company with folks based in Berlin, Denmark, Spain, Amsterdam, Portugal and the UK. We are currently a team of 8 ruuminants (13 in February!) Ideally you'd be located in a timezone +-4h allowing for somewhat overlapping working hours. We are at an early stage and do not believe we can fully support folks on the opposite side of the globe for now.
A little about you
We’re looking for a Head of Growth who shows the world our mission - using the best marketing and sales efforts to do so. So we need someone who knows how to speak to farmers and corporates. This role is for you if you get excited about leveraging all customer touchpoints to represent the brand, build credibility and acquire customers.
Our current sales team is small and also contains farmer onboarding/success. You’ll be responsible for both building and structuring a team from a relatively early stage, where we still need to define processes and functions. Meaning you need to be hands-on and have a big opportunity to shape this area. You will be working with several departments and reporting to ruumi’s CEO, Johannes.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and execute on a go to market strategy towards farmers and corporations
- Developing and defining our sales process from farmers signing up to our app to hectares signed
- Increase number of Inbound leads from corporate farmers
- Build a go to market team (sales, marketing, customer success)
- Optimize the sales funnel for farmers and corporations
- Contribute to product roadmap and prioritization
- Provide visibility around current sales pipeline
We’re looking for someone who has
- Extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices, and an ability to coach others on them
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
- Strong leadership and team building skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Leading sales role within the food or carbon emission sector
- Experience marketing and building a sales process for a B2B product
- Run successful marketing campaigns
Some nice-to-have’s
- Experience marketing products to farmers
- Experience with product marketing and product led growth
- Experience for marketing products within the food supply chain
- Experience marketing for marketplaces or companies with complex products and different customer/user types
- Experience with creating video content
- Built a go to market team from scratch in new business
About ruumi
At ruumi we work with farmers and companies to create the conditions for a better future.
We feel deeply optimistic about the possibility of restoring a healthy balance between mankind and nature. By putting the real-world needs of farmers first – and by being open and honest about what we can and can't do – we believe we can make a difference.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a purpose-led early stage startup. You'll have the opportunity to build your ideas, see the impact quickly and watch a business (and grass) grow.
Company benefits: 30 vacation days per year for you to re-charge and stay on top of your mental health; the best remote working equipment and a co-working space budget to support you day-to-day; quarterly off-sites to get together as a small company.
Want to learn more? Soils are depleted in both developed and less developed countries. The nutrient and water cycle are at stake. Disruptive weather patterns are making it increasingly difficult for farmers to forecast and deliver their desired output.
When we replenish soils, increase biodiversity, and improve the nutrient and water cycle, the planet can absorb carbon into the ground and help farmers to sustain their business more effectively.
Here are a few more resources we like.
- Kiss the Ground (2020) (documentary)
- What is Regenerative Agriculture? (short clip)
- Growing a Revolution (book)
- Dirt to Soil (book)
- Regenerative Agriculture (book)

- Sales & Marketing
